Former NBA star and Minnesota Lynx associate head coach Jim Petersen will bring his energy, knowledge and unparalleled enthusiasm to teach the game to our Basketball Academy summer camps.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Petersen was a standout at St. Louis Park High School and a star player with the Minnesota Gophers before spending 8 seasons playing in the NBA. Selected in the 3rd round of the 1984 NBA Draft, Petersen, 6’10 patrolled the paint for the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors. His rookie campaign allowed him to play in the NBA Finals alongside NBA Hall of Famers, Hakeem Olajuwon and Ralph Sampson.

After retiring from the NBA in 1992, he went on to become a radio analyst in 1998 and soon made his mark as a television analyst for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2003. In 2008, Petersen was named assistant coach of the...
