The Rocky Mountain Rapids vision is to provide an environment for all swimmers to achieve their individual best. There is no “typical” Rocky Mountain Rapids swimmer. We have athletes who are dedicated solely to the sport of swimming, striving to reach the highest levels of the sport, as well as those that participate in multiple sports on a competitive level.
We practice at Liberty High School on the northeast side of Colorado Spings. Additionally, you can join at any time during the year. We look forward to working with your athlete, email our head coach to setup a tryout!
The Rapids offer four levels of training for our swimmers. Each level provides a challenging and fun environment fostering a love of swimming and competing. All levels offer both dryland and pool training, as well as occasionally weekend practices. The Rapids participate in age and level appropriate meets for our swimmers throughout the short and long course seasons. All groups will aim to complete the IM Ready or IM Xtreme from USA Swimming. We want swimmers comfortable competing in all four strokes and competing in all events at meets.
Class 1: The focus of Class 1 is technique and stroke development. We will teach the basics and provide a strong swim foundation. Practice 2-4 times a week. Participation in swim meets is supported.
Class 2: Technique continues to be the focus of Class 2. We will work towards a well-rounded swimmer through the development of all four strokes. Practice 3-5 times a week. We encourage additional participation in swim meets.
Class 3: Training and commitment will become more important in Class 3. As a strong swim foundation has been set, swimmers will work on learning to better apply the techniques learned in practice to the meets. Development of proper technique will continue to be a focus for this level. Practice 4-6 times a week. Participation in swim meets is high encouraged.
Senior Group: Training will be a priority in the Senior Group, however, it will not take away from the importance of proper technique. We will continue to challenge the swimmers in their training as well as meets, all while teaching life lessons through swimming and encourage the Senior Group as team mentors. Practice 5-6 times a week. Participation in swim meets is expected.
