The Potomac Whitewater Racing Center focuses on the daily needs of aspiring and world-class athletes in whitewater competition. Effective December 3rd 2011, The Bethesda Center of Excellence (BCE) formally changed its name to Potomac Whitewater Racing Center (PWRC).

The mission of the Potomac Whitewater Racing Center is to promote the sport of slalom and wildwater canoe and kayak racing and includes:

1. Foster a lifelong love of paddlesports for our members
2. High-quality, year-round whitewater slalom training sites at the Feeder Canal and NRG’s Dickerson Whitewater Course.
3. Additional training facilities in the David Taylor Model Basin and our weight room in the Brookmont Church
coaching and training camps
4. Hosting the Maryland Canoe and Kayak series which includes races from novice to expert levels, and participants from ages 7 to 70
5. River stewardship clean-ups and community outreach
