The Aboite Softball League (ASL) is a non-affiliated, parent-run, recreational, non-profit, girls slow pitch softball league. The Aboite River Women’s Club started the League in 1976.
The four goals of the League are to teach the principles of softball, teamwork, and sportsmanship while having fun.
USSSA rules form the basis of the rules, but are modified for each division to accommodate the League philosophy and playing ability. The League uses the three ball diamonds behind the former Woodside Middle School, now Homestead Freshmen Academy in Fort Wayne, IN. Two of the diamonds are lighted and all three have electronic scoreboards. Bases are 60 feet apart. Pitching distances vary by division from 25 feet to 42 feet. All diamonds have dugouts and storage sheds. The largest diamond has a home-run fence approximately 200 feet from home plate.
