Partnered with Robin Szolkowy, Germany’s Aliona Savchenko won five world titles and two Olympic bronze medals. After making the podium at the 2014 Sochi Olympics with an eye-catching “Pink Panther” program, Savchenko and Szolkowy dissolved their partnership because Szolkowy was ready to retire. Savchenko quickly found a new partner, France’s Bruno Massot, and after sitting out the 2014-15 season, Massot was released by his country’s federation to skate for Germany. At their world championships debut as a pair, Savchenko and Massot won a bronze medal.
