The U.S. Center for SafeSport puts athlete voices ahead of the pack in our Voice of a Champion interview series. Here, we hear about athletes’ sport experiences and ideas for strengthening cultures in every sport, on every court.
This month’s featured interview is with April Holmes, who achieved outstanding success as a sprinter and long jumper after rebounding from losing her left leg in a 2001 train accident, and persevering to compete in four Paralympics. She won three Paralympic medals and broke over a dozen Paralympic world records along the way!
Now an author, motivational speaker, and U.S. Center for SafeSport board member, April tells us. “I feel it’s my role to be an example of someone who has faced adversity, come out on the other side, and blazed a trail.”
