Brian Knudson is webmaster and more for USHL franchise
Webmaster of the Week: March 16-22
Name:
Brian Knudson
Site:
Fargo Force
Position:
Graphic Communication Manager/Webmaster
Background:
A Grand Forks, N.D., native, Knudson graduated from the Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a degree in graphic communications in May 2009. He immediately joined the Force, a United States Hockey League franchise, in a “temporary” role handling the team’s graphics needs for all mediums – print, digital, online, email, billboards, social media and inside the team’s home arena during games. Six years later the temporary tag is long gone, and Knudson’s list of duties for the junior team has grown to include in-game producer and graphics operator, manager for all of the team’s social media accounts and webmaster. “I acquire new responsibilities every year,” he said.
What he does:
Knudson said his main focus is keeping the website updated, planning and executing social media strategies and handling all the team’s graphic needs. Then there’s the game-day duties, which including showing up at Scheels Arena at 9 a.m. and helping with the setup for that evening’s game. As the in-game producer, he determines the music playlist and scripts when advertisements and public service announces are played. Knudson helped organize the transition from the team’s old website platform onto Sport Ngin last summer, a labor-intensive job that, in effect, meant having two functional sites for a few weeks until the switch was flipped to the new site before the start of this season. Coaching staff, staff and player profile pages are all well organized and loaded with information. Knudson also created a Hockey 101 section for newbies to the game.
Making his mark:
Knudson built out the robust Fanzone section of the site with features that include Player Spotlight videos he produced and posted.
