Harvard Coach Kathy Delaney-Smith: Build Trust, Be Empathetic, Be Genuine

Harvard Women’s Basketball Coach Kathy Delaney-Smith has blazed the trail for women in sports and beyond for 49 years. Kathy began as a high school coach in Westwood, Massachusetts earning a record of 204-31 in eleven years. She then moved on to lead the Crimson, where, over the last 38 years, she has won 11 Ivy League titles, coached Team USA, battled for equity for her athletes, and, most importantly, developed incredible people and an enduring sisterhood.

In 2020, PCA/NE recognized Kathy as its Positive Impact legend, for the powerful positive impact she has made on so many, as attested to by her former players, including ESPN’s Jackie MacMullan, Celtics VP and Harvard/WNBA alumna Allison Feaster, and Harvard Director of Athletics Erin McDermott.
