Post Moves with Miami Heat's Bam Adebayo
Scoring in the paint is one of the hardest things to do - especially around big-men. Whether you're a post player or a guard, mastering footwork & post moves in the paint will “help you get your shot off, score against bigger players, or get fouled”, as Bam says.
Even for players like Bam Adebayo, who stands 6’9, it doesn't come easily. To battle against some of the best bigs in the league like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid, it takes more than just strength and size. Footwork & post moves are key to gaining an advantage on defenders!
Through 13 high-intensity playoff games down in Orlando, Adebayo has helped carry the Heat deep into the Eastern Conference Finals. The versatile big man has averaged 17.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1 block a game as he’s held down the paint on both ends of the floor for the Miami Heat. I'd say his footwork and post moves have had a lot to do with his success!
In this NBPA Training Ground Video, Bam demonstrates different footwork & post moves around the basket to help you score in the paint. Try it out!
