Austin-based Eclipse emphasizes fun, development through work of webmaster Allie Roseberry

Webmaster of the Week: January 9-15

NAME:
Allie Roseberry

SITE:
Texas Eclipse Volleyball

POSITION:
Director, coach, webmaster

USE OF PLATFORM:
Registration, Sitebuilder

BACKGROUND:
Roseberry (formerly Watts) grew up in Austin, Texas, where she played volleyball and ran track at Westwood High School. She played for multiple volleyball clubs in the Austin area starting as a seventh-grader. When Roseberry was a senior her father, Greg Watts, started Texas Eclipse with the idea of creating a club that aligned with his philosophy of offering a competitive environment that fueled players’ enjoyment for the game. Watts played baseball in college and his passion for youth sports, especially volleyball, grew through Allie’s years of involvement. “He saw me getting into club volleyball and thought, ‘I think I can do this better, in a way that is about the kids but still in a competitive, learning environment,’ ” she said. Allie played volleyball at Abilene Christin University, and she graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. Although she initially had planned on becoming a teacher when she started college, Roseberry knew by the time she graduated she wanted to join her father in running Texas Eclipse.

WHAT SHE DOES:
Roseberry is joined by her father and Heather Anderson, director of coaching and player development, in running the organization’s day-to-day operations. “There are so many little things we all do,” she said. “We all work together to do the scheduling of tournaments, just all the back end stuff.” Roseberry serves as webmaster, and she works to keep registration sessions, tournament information and college recruiting articles posted and updated. The College Recruiting page lists all the Texas Eclipse players who have committed to colleges dating to 2008. The Tournaments page lists information such as date, age groups, entry fee and deadline for all the tournaments hosted by Texas Eclipse and also includes a link to Advanced Events Systems, which provides the club with its tournament management software. The Coaches landing page has links to coaches bio pages for each age group. Each age group landing page uses the Tab Element to display the coaches for the various teams. Roseberry coaches the club’s top 15U team, Under Armour.

MAKING HER MARK:
Roseberry helped set up the club’s registration to collect as much information as possible, including medical information. She even included uniform sizing and purchasing as part of the registration.
