GULL co-founder Renee Tribe shares passion for sport with spouse, five children

Webmaster of the Week: February 8-14

NAME:
Renee Buchanan Tribe

SITE:
Greater Utah Lacrosse League

POSITION:
Co-Founder, Webmaster, Registrar.

USE OF PLATFORM:
League, Sitebuilder, Registration.

BACKGROUND:
Tribe grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she played basketball in high school, even though her bigger passion was for tennis. “I tried out for the tennis team every year, but I didn’t make it,” she said. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After college she returned to the Bay Area and was running a Gymboree Play & Music franchise at age 26. “I look pretty good in a Gymbo the Clown costume,” she says on her LinkedIn page. Tribe eventually returned to the Provo area with her husband, Troy, to raise their family of five (four boys and a girl ranging in age from 16 to 26). She got interested in lacrosse when her kids (all five of them) started playing, and she co-founded the Greater Utah Lacrosse League with local coach Marty Wescott in 2011. The league has grown to serve 3,500 players in Utah’s Wasatch Front area that includes Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden.

WHAT SHE DOES:
Tribe helped transition GULL onto the Sport Ngin platform a year ago. She was heavily involved in the design of the website, most notably working to ensure the GULL logo (the head of a bold, confident seagull), “didn’t look to cartoonish.” She posts most of the content on the site and is responsible for managing registration sessions and setting up the league’s structure and team pages. She set up the site’s home page to feature the league’s various registration sessions, using the same custom call-to-action graphics in email reminders to members.

MAKING HER MARK:
Tribe created an Equipment page that uses the Tab Element and graphics from U.S. Lacrosse to show the required gear for boys’ and girls’ field players and goalies.
