NAME:
Bobby Sherburn
SITE:
Sequoyah Football
POSITION:
Webmaster
BACKGROUND:
Sherburn is an entrepreneur who co-founded the Atlanta-based software company ecoInsight. A football player in high school and soccer player in college, Sherburn and his wife, Deb, have three children (Noah, 15, Liam, 12, and Lucy, 9) and live in the far northern Atlanta suburbs. Sequoyah High School opened in 1990 and has an enrollment of about 1,700. The Chiefs’ football team plays in the state’s second-largest classification (5A). Sequoyah has won three straight state middle school football championships. Noah, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 270 pounds, was a freshman starter on the Sequoyah varsity last season, where he played multiple offensive line positions. Sherburn estimates the grocery bill for his growing family runs about $300 a week.
WHAT HE DOES:
Sherburn oversees the technology side of Sequoyah High School’s football program. He serves as webmaster, manages the social media accounts and organizes the shooting and posting of the team’s highlight videos. He spearheaded the migration of the old Sequoyah site’s content onto the Sport Ngin platform (with help from son Noah) in December. Sherburn incorporated aerial photos from Google with shots he took of the school’s football field to build a Facilities page. His Opponent Information page lists the Chiefs' opponents and includes links to the team’s sites, rosters and profiles.
MAKING HIS MARK:
Even though the 2014 season was over when work on the site began, Sherburn built out the Chiefs’ team pages (all the way to the sixth grade level) and even ensured all of the varsity individual player stats were inputted from each game.
