Walled Lake Western Football
POSITIONS:
Jenkin is the Walled Lake Western Football Booster Club’s president and serves as co-webmaster with Michniacki, who is also a varsity assistant coach.
BACKGROUND:
Walled Lake Western High School is a public school in the far northwest suburbs of Detroit with an enrollment of about 1,500. The school’s football program bounces between the state’s two largest classifications and won state titles in 1996 and 1999. The Warriors have had just one losing season since 1994. Jenkin, who is an IT Manager at Ford Motor Company in Detroit, has been involved in the Walled Lake Western football program’s booster club for the last nine years, including the last three as its president. He and his wife, Sandy, have three sons – Andrew, Michael and Matt – and all three played varsity football for Walled Lake Western. Michniacki played for Western’s 1999 state championship team and has been the team’s kicking coach since 2002. He also works with the varsity’s special teams. Michniacki is also Walled Lake Western’s varsity softball coach.
WHAT THEY DO:
Michniacki was in charge of the team’s old website, one that required HTML know-how and allowed only one person to make additions or changes at any given time. Jenkin initiated the site’s move onto the Sport Ngin platform and helped Michniacki with much of the content migration and creation on the new site. Much of Michniacki’s vast historical archives, including every team photo dating to 1970, has been loaded on the site. Jenkin is in charge of setting up registration sessions and loaded a digital version of the team’s outstanding game program on the site.
MAKING HER MARK:
Walled Lake Western’s "Warriors for Warriors" fundraising program spearheaded by Jenkin has raised $250,000 for charity over the last four years.
